COVID-19 Update from Mission: Empowerment!

We have been closely monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus). The situation and the response from governments and organizations is evolving rapidly.

The safety and well-being of our Mission: Empowerment! community and staff, our local community and our global community remains our top priority.

As you likely know, the Government of Ontario has now declared a state of emergency in the province as it looks to combat the spread of COVID-19 and prevent coronavirus from overwhelming its health-care system. The province is also prohibiting gatherings of more than 50 people, until at least March 31st. Canadians are being urged to "stay at home" and borders are now closed to people from other countries.

What this means for our workshops:

  • The “Daring Greatly ™” workshop scheduled for April 3rd has been postponed. Everyone registered for this workshop was contacted and given the option for a full refund, credit, or the ability to transfer their registration to the rescheduled event. Once we know the new date, we will post this on our website and email the previous registrants.

  • The “Fierce Self-Compassion” workshop scheduled for May 25th has been rescheduled to November 19th. While the original date of May 25th is still two months away, we did not feel comfortable waiting to make the decision about rescheduling this workshop given its size, the number of international travellers attending, and the fact that Dr. Neff herself is from another country. Everyone registered for this workshop was contacted and given the option to transfer their registration to the November 19th date, or to receive a full refund or credit if they were unable to attend on November 19th.

At this point in time we have no plans to cancel or postpone our other events as it is too soon to know if we will need to do so (the first of which is scheduled for April 24/20), but we will continue to monitor the situation, keep you informed, and make provisions as necessary to address any changes needed to ensure the safety of our workshop participants.  Updates will be posted here at and registered attendees will be provided updates via email.

For previous updates:

As for our staff, we have always operated as a virtual office so rest assured we are all safely at home.

We look forward to welcoming you at future events when it is safe to do so.  In the mean time, take care and stay safe.
