COVID-19 Update from Mission: Empowerment!

We have been closely monitoring the situation regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus). The situation and the response from governments and organizations is evolving rapidly.

The safety and well-being of our Mission: Empowerment! community and staff, our local community and our global community remains our top priority.

As per our last update on March 14/20, we had already made the decision to postpone all events scheduled before April 6th, 2020. At the time we were being exceedingly cautious and doing our part to join in the containment efforts, as the risk to Canadians was still being described as low and the recommendation was only to cancel large gatherings of 250 people or more.  Still, we felt it was the responsible and prudent thing to do. Everyone registered for workshops during this time was contacted and given the option for a full refund, credit, or the ability to transfer their registration to the rescheduled events.

As you likely know, the Government of Ontario has now declared a state of emergency in the province as it looks to combat the spread of COVID-19 and prevent coronavirus from overwhelming its health-care system. The province is also prohibiting gatherings of more than 50 people, until at least March 31st.

This doesn't change our approach, as it is in line with what had decided to do already.

At this point in time we have no plans to cancel or postpone events scheduled beyond April 6th (our first one scheduled after that is April 24/20) but we will continue to monitor the situation, keep you informed, and make provisions as necessary to address any changes needed to ensure the safety of our workshop participants.  Updates will be posted here at and registered attendees will be provided updates via email.

As for our staff, we have always operated as a virtual office so rest assured we are all safely at home.

We look forward to welcoming you at future events when it is safe to do so.  In the mean time, take care and stay safe.
